Small changes = Big results
What if every day you took just five minutes to sit down and write down a travel goal for the next 12 months? Schedule yourself for 15 minutes at the end of each month to take stock of your ideas and come up with one BIG output that’s going to help you achieve your travel goals. I guarantee if you do this and come up with 12 big summary bullet points of what you’re going to do you’ll see huge results.
I started doing this myself back in January, and now just five months later I’m well on my way to my goal of traveling full-time by the end of the year. I’ll share quickly the five big item takeaways I have so far this year. I found that once I started writing each day the ideas would build on themselves and I’d easily have a theme for each month. I’ll share a few of my 2025 big ideas so far:
Look into the rental market, find out how easy it would be to rent my home out and manage the rental and income to ensure it becomes revenue-generating. Done, and now I’m ready to act!
Plan one longer trip of six to eight weeks and feel what it’s like not just to “take a trip” but really plan for life on the road. I’m in the middle of this now, and I’ll be sharing my takeaways when I finish it in about a month.
Think about what longer-term more permanent travel looks like. I’ve realized my goals are really to settle in a place for one to two months, rent a small apartment, and live like a local. Plan some travel in the local/regional area but really use it as a temporary “home.” In between these “short home” stops I’ll pack lighter and take some more “vacation” type trips.
Put together an income-generating plan to enable more travel. This is (and will likely be for the next 12-24 months) a slow build-up of a portfolio of activities to generate the income to enable me to live on the road. With the major cost of a mortgage out of the way there’s a real possibility that life on the road could even come out to be less expensive.
So…are you ready to try? Just five minutes a day and fifteen extra minutes per month could help you achieve your travel goals…however big or small they might be. Change only happens when we actively work on it.
